    The second class of the International Entertainment Buyers Association will be inducted on October 4 as the closing event of the annual IEBA conference in Nashville. Inductees are honored for their exceptional contributions to the live entertainment industry.
     
    This year’s celebration will be hosted by the multi-talented Laura Bell Bundy, with performances by Bundy, Roy Clark, Don Schlitz, and live art by Michael Israel.     Continuing a tradition of recognizing music industry greats who are also dedicated to the educational process, Belmont’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business will name the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA) and founder Harry “Hap” Peebles the 2011 recipient of the Robert E. Mulloy Award of Excellence at the Best of the Best Showcase at Belmont’s Curb Event Center on March 26th at 7p.m. Established in memory of program founder Bob Mulloy, the annual Award of Excellence recognizes an individual or organization that has achieved a level of excellence in the music business and entertainment industries with notable service to Belmont University and the Nashville community; previous recipients include Donna Hilley and Vince Gill.

    The newly elected IEBA Board of Directors held their first board meeting of the year January 25 at the new host hotel for IEBA’s annual conference, the Sheraton Downtown Nashville. The board participated the previous day in several very productive committee meetings followed by a cocktail reception. As previously announced, the dates for the 2011 conference are October 2-4.Guiding the International Entertainment Buyers Association in 2011 is a strong, well-respected board of directors representing all facets of live entertainment led by board chairman Linda Smith of Glenn Smith Presents.

    Live Nation Entertainment announced today, February 7, that it had bought the remaining portion of Front Line Management that it didn't already own, swelling the coffers of founder Irving Azoff and Madison Square Garden (MSG) by more than $100 million in cash and stock. MSG owned a percentage of Front Line Management.

    Overall concert ticket sales dropped by double digits in 2010, as economic concerns and fickle fans resisted attending many shows, causing artists and promoters to cancel shows or entire tours and lead live entertainment giant Live Nation Entertainment to rethink its 2011 model.
